Local Elections on 4th May 2017

The Clwyd South Conservatives have been campaigning hard in a wide variety of wards including ones where the Welsh Conservatives are not incumbents such as Bryn Cefn, Llangollen Rural and the Ceiriog Valley.

HSBC Bank Closures

UPDATE: 29th March 2016

Simon recently spoke at the Welsh Conservative conference in Llangollen, where he brought national attention to the HSBC closures in Chirk and Ruabon.
Simon has also recently sent out another update to all 700 banking survey respondents, informing them of recent developments between himself and HSBC.
In the update, Simon put's forward his analysis of those who returned the banking survey, which highlights to HSBC, the collective concerns such closures will have on our constituency.

Saved: Maternity services at Wrexham Maelor Hospital

A very big thank you to everyone who signed our petition to save consultant-led maternity services at Wrexham Maelor Hospital - your voices have been heard!We are delighted as well that there will be no downgrade of consultant-led maternity services elsewhere in the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board area.Our local campaign, led by Andrew Atkinson, shows that protection of the NHS is the number one priority for people in Clwyd South and elsewhere in Wales.

Restoration of Lodge Bus Service

Simon Baynes (Prospective Welsh Conservative Assembly Member for Clwyd South) and local Councillor Paul Rogers are campaigning to re-establish a bus service between Brymbo and Wrexham via Lodge, after Arriva Buses Wales suddenly withdrew the service, leaving our local community without regular and reliable public transport . Many residents of all ages rely on regular services to access employment and healthcare. Simon and Paul both feel that residents in Lodge deserve a better bus service.

Freeze Council Tax

Had a very good morning speaking with residents of Clwyd South, while they were shopping in Wrexham, about the Welsh Conservative policy to freeze Council Tax. I was campaigning with Janet Howarth AM, Andrew Atkinson (Welsh Conservative Assembly Candidate for Wrexham) and Nathan Hughes.
