On Friday 10th December 2021, Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes, visited Bersham Cricket Club in Rhostyllen to meet with members of the committee and to hear about future proposals for the club.
Mr Baynes met with Aled Edwards (Club Secretary) and Dyfan Parry (Fundraising Officer) to hear about future improvement proposals for Bersham Cricket Club and also about the funding required to undertake the necessary projects at the club.
During the visit, Mr Baynes also heard about the club’s ambition to improve facilities, not only to assist in the growth of the club and to attract more players but also for the benefit of the local community. Previously, the club was used for various charity events, but due to the current condition of the Clubhouse, this has not been possible.
Fundraising Officer, Dyfan Parry said:
“The club is extremely grateful to Simon for coming down to see us and hear about our project and developments at the club. The club is actively seeking sponsorship and donations to develop the club and help improve the facilities. If any local companies are interested please do get in contact with the club. The club previously used to hold many charity and community events. Given the current state of the facilities we are unable to grow not only as a club but as a hub for the community”.
Simon Baynes MP said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Bersham Cricket Club on Friday morning and meet with both Aled Edwards and Dyfan Parry to learn about their ideas for the future of the club. It is a real shame that currently the club is unable to expand to more players and also hold charity events, however I wish Bersham Cricket Club the very best for the future and really hope they’re able to receive the funding they need to ensure improvement to their facilities, which will be of great benefit to the local area.”
