Simon Baynes MP in Powers of Attorney Bill 170323

On Friday 17th March, I spoke in support of the Powers of Attorney Bill, introduced by Stephen Metcalfe MP. When I was the Minister for Justice in the summer of last year, I worked with Stephen Metcalfe on the preparation of this Private Members’ Bill. At the moment, the process of gaining power of attorney is paper based, and this Bill will introduce an online digital application process as well. This Bill will make it easier and quicker for many people to gain a power of attorney which will be to the great benefit of many vulnerable people across the whole of the United Kingdom at a very difficult time in their lives, and I am very pleased to support it.
