Earlier this week I welcomed the Home Secretary, The Rt. Hon Priti Patel to Brickfield Rangers Club in Wrexham.
Together with the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Wrexham, Sarah Atherton we visited the ground of Brickfield Rangers – a football club with over thirty years’ experience of promoting sport in the community who work with JM Recruitment Education & Training in helping youngsters get a foot on the career ladder in education, training and sport.
The Home Secretary enjoyed her visit very much, chatting with organisers and some of the many young people who come here to train and enjoy sport. She was full of praise for the dedicated staff who run the club.
The club is not just about football, it is about providing young people with opportunities and a focus. It is a real credit to the community and I would like to see more clubs like this in our region.
I have a longstanding relationship with Brickfield Rangers, particularly Andrew Ruscoe, and the Home Secretary was very impressed by the amazing work Andrew, Alisha Anwar and all the Club are doing for youngsters in the community in partnership with Matt Hilliker, Jamie Turley, Gavin Hooson and all at JM Recruitment Education & Training.
Brickfield Rangers is based in Wrexham and has 24 teams competing at all levels. The youngest players are under five-years-old.
The club also has its own youth coaching scheme for those who would like to make a career out of their chosen sport.
Afterwards, the Home Secretary said: “Simon is doing a sterling job in Clwyd South. He is working hard to help the community in many different ways and I am sure he will make a very good MP for Clwyd South so that we can get on with Brexit and start focusing on the things that people really care about like jobs, health and law and order.”
