Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, has welcomed the decision by members of Llangollen Town Council on Tuesday night, 20th April, to set up a Task and Finish Group to investigate the feasibility of a hydropower scheme harnessing the energy of the River Dee to generate green power.
This follows calls made in March by Mr Baynes and Llangollen Town Councillor, Stuart Davies, to examine the possibility of setting up local hydroelectric projects to generate energy from the River Dee in Llangollen.
Simon Baynes MP said:
“I would like to congratulate Llangollen Town Council on agreeing to look into the feasibility of harnessing our beautiful River Dee to generate electricity for people locally. The possibility of generating hydroelectric power once more on the River Dee is very exciting and I’m sure will attract a great deal of support in the community in Llangollen. And I’m fully supportive of any efforts to safeguard the environment and promote renewable energy in Clwyd South.”
