Simon Baynes MP for Clwyd South made the opening speech and welcomed the Prime Minister to the Welsh Conservative Conference in Llangollen which was held from 6th to 7th March. In his opening speech, Simon Baynes spoke of the proud industrial heritage of Clwyd South, including the Llangollen Steam Railway and the Canal and its aqueducts; the constituency’s thriving businesses and industrial parks; its beautiful countryside; its close-knit communities and Welsh language and cultural heritage including the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.

“The Prime Minister made a rousing speech and headed up an impressive line-up of speakers which also included the Home Secretary Rt Hon Priti Patel MP; the new Co-Chairman of the Party, Amanda Milling MP; Paul Davies AM, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Assembly; Simon Hart MP, the Secretary of State for Wales and Lord Byron Davies, Chairman of the Welsh Conservatives.
There was also plenty of opportunity for party members, candidates and young people to speak and ask questions. There was a big group attending from Clwyd South, large numbers of students and young members present and plenty of stands in the Fringe featuring organisations ranging from Guide Dogs Cymru to the RSPB.”
