Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, has sent a video message to pupils at Ysgol Maes y Mynydd about the importance of internet safety as part of Parent Zone and Google’s ‘Be Internet Legends’ campaign.
Since its launch in March 2018, the ‘Be Internet Legends’ campaign has trained more than 300,000 children face to face via assemblies and over 2 million children via teachers using our resources. And so far have delivered over 1,700 assemblies in primary schools where over 30,000 teachers have accessed our resources to teach their pupils how to ‘Be Internet Legends.’
Mr Baynes spoke to Ysgol Maes y Mynydd pupils at a school assembly held on Tuesday 24th November to highlight the importance of internet safety and using technology responsibly, especially now that so many young people are spending more time at home using technology. He also spoke about the importance of being ‘Internet Kind’ and respecting everyone online.
Speaking later, Simon Baynes MP said:
“I was so pleased to be able to send a video message to pupils at Ysgol Maes y Mynydd about such a vitally important issue. We can do and learn some wonderful things online. However, it’s also important that children are taught how to use technology safely.
“I remember when my children were in school, they were taught about ‘stranger danger’ which is also hugely important. But now, more than ever, it’s important to take a similar, careful approach to using the internet.”
